Hologic UX Designer in Santa Clara, California
Hologic is interested in a hands-on User Experience (UX) Designer capable of performing individual design assignments while also providing context, structure and direction to inform user experience design for medical systems. The UX Designer is expected to ensure that Hologic B&SH products provide best in class usability and user experience.
The ideal individual for this role is an empathic end-user advocate capable of identifying and translating user requirements into design solutions for hardware/software systems through the use of a structured design process and methodology. This individual should have experience in research, testing, interaction design and visual design as means to create meaningful products. In addition, this designer should have a thorough understanding of current UX trends and contemporary user-centered design methodologies, from initial generative research to evaluative testing of user interfaces.
As a core member of the Breast and Skeletal Health (BSH) design team, the User Experience (UX) Designer will have an active role in design decisions related to prototype design and testing, interaction design and visual design. The UX Designer will:
Create user-centered designs for Hologic hardware/software systems by understanding customer needs, defining personas, documenting use cases, creating detailed wireframes and prototypes, and conducting user testing.
Plan and execute strategic design initiatives that achieve cohesive platform experiences at scale.
Ensure that designs are executed in a manner which supports all domestic and international quality standards related to usability, accessibility, safety and other quality criteria.
Establish and maintain the design system, including visual design language, component, and pattern libraries.
Collaborate with Software Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, Service, and Applications to define user requirements, concepts, and scope of implementation to satisfy business needs.
Analyze existing design process, create gap analysis, and find opportunities for improvement.
Lead Design Thinking workshops as means to generate user insights and design solutions.
Contribute to the intellectual position of the company through invention and patent applications.
Understanding of all aspects of user experience design and research methods including generative research, defining personas, creating detailed wireframes and architecture diagrams, use case development, and conducting formative and human factors validation testing.
Exceptional communication skills that demonstrate an understanding of user needs and translating these needs into simple, creative solutions; ability to justify design choices and adjust decisions based on feedback.
Demonstrated ability to meet commitments and multi-task in a fast-paced, iterative work environment with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated attention to detail and organization in all aspects of work.
Ability to represent user experience design interests, value and work both internally to the organization and externally.
Strong foundational visual design skills (e.g., layout, composition, typography, color) that translate complex visual information into clean, thoughtful and creative solutions.
Ability to schedule work and allocate resources with an emphasis on quality and time to market.
Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design, UX Design, HCI, or related discipline. Masters degree preferred.
A portfolio that demonstrates your design talent creating user-centered design solutions (flows, prototypes, wireframes) and solid visual designs (mockups and style guides)
Three to five (3-5) years of experience working as an Interaction Designer, UX Designer (or similar role) creating innovative user interfaces and interactions for complex desktop applications, web applications, and/or mobile applications.
Experience in developing for medical applications or products is preferred.
Experience designing for hybrid hardware/software systems is preferred.
Proficiency in Figma, Invision, Sketch or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
Must have a portfolio demonstrating high quality UX and visual design work. Submissions without a portfolio will not be considered.
Experience in Front-end web development is a plus.
Experience with motion graphics is a plus.
