Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the Electronics (computers, PCBA, displays, motion control, assemblies, etc.) and Metalscategory portfoliosand aggressively seek opportunities for cost containment and/or improvement. Benchmark and utilize best practices sourcing within the category portfolios.

  • Negotiate complex agreements with global suppliers that may include protection of IP, co-development, technology partnerships, etc. Develop contingency plans to mitigate risk of non-performance of sole-sourced vendors. Negotiate contracts to maximize savings over multiple years of spend, including performance clauses and all other terms and conditions.

  • Develop category sourcing plans and lead resources in the identification of potential suppliers, requirements documentation, RFI and RFQs, bid and price analysis, negotiation and contract award, and supplier performance management.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to develop category strategies to achieve total cost reductions, lead time improvement, and overall supply rationalization. Manage and drive year-over-year price improvements.

  • Work closely with key functional stakeholders and support existing sourcing and procurement leads to help drive spend reduction via demand management and execution of category/supplier strategies.

  • Create strategic sourcing plan to ensure value is achieved through a systematic approach for specific categories of spend. This includes inventory management, lead-time reductions, lower total cost of ownership, and quality assessments.

  • Coordinate with purchasing and materials managers to align goals and mitigate any risk associated with material supply. Enhance supplier relationships and review key performance metrics to support short and long-term production needs.

  • Engage with the product lifecycle management process to ensure alignment with commodity strategies and business group needs.

  • Develop a clear understanding of the market forces and conditions that drive each commodity and set strategies to guide those forces effectively. Develop annual “cost reduction strategies” with key suppliers that support divisional and functional goals.

  • Develop predictive benchmarks for aggressive cost targets.

  • Analyze trends to forecast prices and volume. Contribute to global strategy development across other direct material and indirect spend categories as deemed appropriate.

  • Ensure that supplier delivery and quality expectations are met via partnering with quality to develop proper product specifications/supplier quality systems and via developing alternate supply strategies for supply continuity.

  • Financial modeling, analysis and budget management.

  • Excellent analytical and data manipulation skills (cost comparisons, trend analysis, pivots, charting), financial modeling, analysis and budget management

Education:

  • BS or BA , MBA or equivalent can be a plus

Experience:

  • 5-8 Years in a Commodity Management, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain or equivalent role

  • Recent experience in an Electronics category, working with global and domestic suppliers is a must

  • Categories such as: computers, PCBA, displays, motion control, assemblies, components, cables, etc.

  • Recent experience in a Metals category, working with global and domestic suppliers is a must

  • Demonstrated leadership ability with ability to work across organizational boundaries

  • Experience performing as a strong team player that enjoys a fast paced atmosphere
